West Nairobi School
A bespoke auditorium where acoustics, sound and lighting work as one, designed around the school's mission to nurture the whole child.
The acoustic, audio and visual design of the West Nairobi School auditorium was inspired by the school’s mission: nurturing the academic, emotional, physical, social and spiritual development of the whole child.
The auditorium had to serve both learning and worship, which called for even, natural sound across the whole room and a space that felt inspiring rather than clinical. Reflections off hard surfaces had to be controlled while the design still expressed the school's identity and values.
Sound Creations delivered an integrated acoustic, audio and visual design. The side walls carry a bespoke treatment shaped like trees, crafted with absorbing materials from TianGe Acoustic and lit with rainbow LED, symbolising growth while managing reflections. A curved acoustic ceiling reflects sound from the stage and distributes it evenly across the audience, complemented by acoustic seating, an acoustic carpet and a fully treated back wall that removes unwanted reflections.
